Can someone explain this quiz question?

I am a high school Junior in IB Spanish 1 and I was asked this question in a review quiz:
Is this expression/phrase Subjunctive or Indicative? "Vamos a jugar fútbol hasta que empiece a llover." (We’re going to play soccer until it starts to rain.)
The correct answer was subjunctive but I thought it was indicative. I was taught that wishes, emotion, impersonal phrases, requests/recommendations, doubts (dudo que), and Ojalé que (let's hope/god willing) triggers the subjunctive. I don't see how any of those apply to this question's sentence. Could someone explain or offer some insight into this?
